  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter and eggs; mix in the yeast mixture until a soft dough forms.
  2. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  3. Mix chopped apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in another bowl; set aside.
  4. After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle (1/2 inch thick). Spread melted butter over it and sprinkle with apple filling.
  5. Roll up tightly from one long side into a log. Cut lengthwise to create two halves; twist together keeping cut sides up.
  6. Place twisted babka in a greased loaf pan and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
