Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Combine wet and dry ingredients without overmixing.
  3. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  4. While cooling, slice strawberries and sprinkle with sugar if desired. Beat heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble by placing one cake layer on a platter, spreading half the whipped cream and half the strawberries on top. Add the second layer and repeat with remaining cream and strawberries.
