Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella & cheddar blend)
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (basil, oregano, or thyme)
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center for the yeast mixture.
  3. Combine dough: Gradually mix the flour with the activated yeast until a shaggy dough forms. Fold in shredded cheese and herbs.
  4. Knead dough: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  6. Shape and bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a loaf, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let rise again for 30 minutes before baking for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
