A comforting, baked version of the classic Sloppy Joe, featuring a savory meat topping layered over fluffy mashed potatoes and finished with melted cheddar cheese.

  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 cups prepared mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, then drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Spread mashed potatoes evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Pour the Sloppy Joe meat mixture over the potatoes and spread evenly.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
